Cameron Sutton, President, Co-Founder
Prior to coming out of retirement to co-found GPS, Mr. Sutton provided decades of leadership experience in the insurance industry guiding subsequent generations of insurance professionals.
Mr. Sutton received his bachelor's degree in business administration from the University of Nebraska-Kearney, and his Juris Doctorate from the University of Nebraska's College of Law. He is a Certified Life Underwriter, an active member of several insurance industry groups and a former Trustee for the National Association of Life Underwriters.
After graduation from Law school, Sutton started his own insurance practice which was subsequently purchased by Alexander & Alexander (A&A) in 1981. Over the next 26 years, Sutton held several executive positions and spearheaded many key initiatives at A&A and it's subsequent purchaser, Aon, which is the world's leading risk management, brokerage and consulting organization. His last position at Aon was Executive Vice President and a member of Aon Consulting's Global Operating committee. Mr. Sutton retired in December, 2006.
In August of 2007, Sutton came out of retirement to become the President and CEO of ARAG Legal Insurance Company in Des Moines, Iowa. Sutton fulfilled his 3-year contract and again retired in December, 2010.
Matt Schreiber, Head of Product
Mr. Schreiber has over 25 years of experience in various roles in the insurance industry. Prior to joining GPS, he spent over 20 years at ARAG Insurance Company in various roles including leading Regulatory Compliance, Product Development, Market Research, and Customer Experience areas. Schreiber’s innovative thinking and leadership led to multiple new product launches that led to significant growth.
Schreiber’s other insurance experience includes working in the Office of General Counsel for Nationwide Insurance, where he led a team responsible for tracking proposed insurance laws as they were being legislated in all 50 states.
Kevin Zierke, Head of Finance, Co-Founder
With over 20 years of experience in the financial services industry, Mr. Zierke has a proven track record collaborating with executives to develop and transform business strategies into significant revenue growth with sustainable returns. This includes directing the Underwriting, Actuarial, Quantitative Analysis, and Claims functions at ARAG Insurance Company. During his tenure at ARAG, Zierke established a culture of sustained profitability and reduced loss ratio volatility risk.
Prior to co-founding GPS, Zierke was the Vice President of Operations and Research at an investment advisory firm specializing in volatility-focused limited partnerships, where he led the research to develop and analyze risk/reward profiles for alternative trading strategies. His other insurance experience includes work as an actuarial analyst for a life and health actuarial consulting firm, as well as for a large regional health insurance company in Florida.
Lori Crivaro, Head of Integrations
Ms. Crivaro comes to GPS with more than 20 years’ experience at ARAG Insurance Company. Her experience includes implementation, communications, pre-enrollment and enrollment strategies and managing relationships within all levels of an organization with some of the largest and/or most complex clients. Most recently, Ms. Crivaro’s responsibilities included managing new product launches with exchanges and strategic partners.
Ms. Crivaro also has more than ten years’ experience in the financial services industry in various roles including customer service, credit analysis and auditing.
Nick Berger, Head of Affiliate Sales
Mr. Berger has over 8 years of experience in the insurance industry in various roles, subject matter areas, and geographic markets. He spent 5 years as an integral member of Aon Consulting’s Greater New York Employee Benefits practice as a Lead Consultant. His clients were spread across multiple industries, with a primary focus on the Private Equity sector.
Berger’s last position at Aon spanned over 3 years in the company’s Pacific Southwest market. There he was an Account Executive for some of the region’s most complex Employee Benefits and Commercial Risk clients. He was also the Associate Market Sales Leader, where he was responsible for the region’s Employee Benefits consulting new business growth. He has a proven track record of meeting and exceeding new business targets for both his personal goals and his region’s goals.
Berger has a Bachelor’s Degree from Villanova University. He is the Co-Chair of the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation's Los Angeles Chapter Tomorrow's Leaders Program.
Steven Gaer, Advisory Board Member
Mr. Gaer is currently President of Recoop Disaster Insurance in West Des Moines where he is responsible for leading the growth of an innovative insurance startup company. Before joining Recoop, Gaer spent 18 years at R&R Realty Group in roles including Chief Operating Officer and General Counsel. Prior to R&R, Gaer spent 10 years in various insurance industry leadership roles at Marsh McLennan, where he was responsible for a property and casualty program insurance division that spanned more than 200 employees across 16 U.S. offices.
Gaer, who earned his law degree from Drake University Law School, began his career as an associate and then a shareholder with Ahlers & Cooney PC in Des Moines and spent 22 years in civil service as a city council member including four terms as West Des Moines mayor.
Mr. Gaer also currently serves on the boards of West Bank and Recoop Disaster Insurance.
Nick Gerhart, Advisory Board Member
Mr. Gerhart is currently Executive VP – Chief Innovation Officer at Homesteaders Life Company where he is responsible for proactively seeking out and developing opportunities to optimize company growth through innovation.
A proven change agent, strategist and executive leader, Gerhart previously served as Commissioner of the Iowa Insurance Division, where he transformed that department and increased the State of Iowa’s international prominence through his thought leadership and the creation of the Global Insurance Symposium held annually in Des Moines. During his time as Commissioner he also was very involved at the NAIC and served on the Executive Committee, Chair of the Life and Annuity (A) Committee and was appointed to the Federal Advisory Committee on Insurance. He spent time mentoring startup companies throughout the world and helped the NAIC deal with the challenges of regulating in the world of innovation and change.
Gerhart, who earned his law degree and health law certificate from St. Louis University School of Law and a Masters of Health Administration from St. Louis University School of Public Health, has had valuable experience as Chief Administrative Officer for FBL Financial and has worked at Sammons Financial Group and American Equity Investment Life Insurance Company. Gerhart is also heavily involved in community and philanthropic organizations including ChildServe, Variety the Children’s Charity and JDRF.
